6th Form/Post 16

The Post-16 Centre is a purpose-built facility opened in 1997 for exclusive use of sixth form students. It houses three teaching rooms equipped with networked computers and a private study area with PCs that also have internet access. Students also have the use of a kitchen and a common room with vending machines.

The sixth form organise their own social events through the Sixth Form Council which is elected annually. Students are involved in money-raising events for charity throughout the year.

Courses on offer to Post-16 students include:

AS/A2: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Drama, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, German, Health & Social Care, History, ICT, Mathematics, Media Studies, Music, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Technology.

BTEC courses are also offered at Level 1 and 2 and we can also offer the new Creative and Media Diploma.

A General Studies programme is a compulsory course for all advanced students and can lead to AS/A2 examination entries.

Students take up to five AS subjects in Year 12.

An Activities programme on Wednesday afternoons offers competitive/social sport such as football, hockey and badminton, and alternatives such as Dance, First Aid, Ceramics etc.

Work experience is encouraged.
